![]() ![]() We were always taught to NOT use the regulator to energize or flash the generator because supposedly the higher than normal current draw across the contacts would weld them or ?. Sometimes when they are dismantled for repair the residual is lost and it will not charge until it has been "flashed". I used to have to work with generators a lot as that was what was fitted on most engines previous to mid 60's.Įstablishing polarity is one of the things you are doing when "polarizing" after repair but also it is re-establishing the residual magnitism in correct polarity. ![]() It sounds like you need to polarize the generator. ![]()
